Can time be tracked offline on the timer applications?

On Hubstaff’s timer applications, a user can track time even if the timer is Offline (No internet connection, connectivity issues, working in a location without internet access, etc). This is beneficial when there are internet connectivity outages. This way the Hubstaff time tracker stores the activity locally until the tools are back online and the data is preserved.

As long as the team member is logged into the desktop app, they are able to track time without an internet connection. Hubstaff will continue to store data on the computer. Once they are connected to the Internet again, all data should begin to upload to our servers.

Below is a sample screenshot of the app while tracking time offline. Notice that at the bottom left-hand side, it says “Last update failed,” (It may show as “Offline” on other versions of the app) this means that the app isn’t able to synchronize recorded activities with our servers.

Can You Track time Offline 1

As soon as the app is able to detect an internet connection, it will start to upload your recorded activities as shown here:

Can You track time offline 2

All data is stored locally on your machine indefinitely until it is uploaded to the server.

The offline mode should allow you to start Hubstaff even if your network is offline (provided you have either logged in, or Hubstaff has logged on automatically in the past 5 days).
We require the user to have internet connectivity when they do an interactive login (one where they need to provide the password). Once a user is logged in, subsequent restarts of the application will attempt an auto-login using cached  (or saved) authentication tokens. This process does NOT require the user to be online, just that they go online every 5 days so the tokens can be renewed. If the user explicitly logs out, this clears the tokens and they will be required to do an interactive login before they can resume using the application.
